Pensioner up on 21 charges in relation to Trinity gate-ramming
John Farrell was released on bail of €1,000 after charges from April incident.
A MAN WHO allegedly crashed a car into the front gates of Trinity College last April has appeared in court.
John Farrell (68) was facing 21 charges relating to the incident when he appeared before Dublin Criminal Court today.
There was no objection to bail, which was set at €1,000.
When Farrell’s lawyer said that his client could not afford to pay the money, his family and friends that were in attendance paid €300.
The remaining €700 will be paid at a later date.
During the incident, which took place on 2 April last, a number of cars were also damaged when a vehicle entered the grounds of Trinity in the heart of Dublin city. The 140-year-old gates were damaged when the saloon-style car made its exit onto College Green.

The car then moved up Dawson Street – where a number of other cars were damaged – before being stopped by gardaí further along that street.
