Two men arrested after €1m of cannabis seized in Co Louth

Some 50kg of suspected cannabis was seized yesterday in Castlebellingham, Co Louth.

TWO MEN HAVE been arrested after €1m worth of cannabis was seized in Co Louth.

As part of an intelligence-led operation yesterday, Revenue officers seized 50kg of suspected cannabis with an estimated street value of €1m in Castlebellingham, Co Louth.

The joint operation was conducted by the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau and Revenue’s Customs Service.

Two men in their 40s were arrested in connection with the investigation and are currently detained at a station in the Garda North Western Region.

The seized drugs are now subject to analysis by Forensic Science Ireland and investigations are ongoing.
