THE ACTOR WHO plays Batman in The Dark Knight Rises, the movie that was showing in an Aurora theatre before a man barged in and shot dead 12 people and injured a further 58, has paid tribute to those affected by the tragedy.
Christian Bale and his wife Sibi Blazic visited the makeshift memorial in Aurora yesterday, leaving a bouquet of flowers and pausing for a moment of reflection.
In a move that was said not to be coordinated by the Warner Brothers studio, Bale also went to the local hospital for a low-key visit. The Denver Post reported that the actor met with seven patients injured in the shooting, including Carey Rottman whose photograph has been circulated on social media since.
Bale also greeted a number of doctors and paid tribute to emergency response staff. Hospital interim president Bill Voloch said the 10-minute visits with patients were “really appreciated”.
