SEVEN PEOPLE DIED when a cargo place crashed in the Bagram airfield in Afghanistan yesterday.
All seven victims were US citizens, according to CNN.
The crash occurred just after takeoff, said the flight operator National Airlines. There were seven crew members on board the flight which was en route to Dubai. There were no survivors.
“Safety is always our top priority at National Airlines,” said National Airlines President Glen Joerger. “This is a devastating loss for our family and we’ll work diligently with authorities to find the cause,” said Joerger. “Most importantly, our thoughts and prayers are with our crewmembers and their families.”
The cause of the crash is not yet known but the Taliban has claimed it was responsible. That statement has been dismissed by NATO which said there were no reports of militant activity near the base at the time.
Bagram, which is located near the Afghan capital of Kabul, is the largest military base for US troops in the country.
