TODAY MARKS THE 150th anniversary of the birth of WB Yeats.
The poet has prominent place in Ireland’s literary history and his beautiful writings have made it all around the world.
To mark the anniversary of Yeats’ birth the Ocean Sands Hotel in Sligo, the county in which Yeats spent his childhood summer holidays, put together this interactive map of all of the places that meant something to Yeats throughout his life.
It shows his birthplace in Dublin in 1865, where he was raised by his barrister father and artist mother.
It details how Yeats met the love of his life, Maud Gonne, in London in 1889. The Irish revolutionary refused four marriage proposals from the poet but inspired many of his poems.
The last stop on the map is in France, where Yeats passed away. He jad moved to the country because of ill health.
