MOTORISTS ARE BEING warned to beware of ice on untreated roads as temperatures dip to freezing today.
Met Éireann says that today will be a cold day with frost, ice and fog slow to clear and ice on untreated surfaces.
While there are no weather warnings in place, the weather will be very cold until lunchtime.
There will be some hazy sunshine over eastern and southeastern areas where it will stay dry for the day. Afternoon temperatures will hit up to five degrees in most areas, but that will dip again this evening.
Tonight will see fog developing and becoming dense. Temperatures will fall as far as minus one degree Celsius.
Icy patches will develop overnight.

Tomorrow will start off cold in the east and northeast with fog and any icy patches gradually clearing to a mostly dry but rather cloudy day. However, in the southwest, rain will push in from the Atlantic during the morning and will spread north-eastwards, extending countrywide by evening.
There will be some snow on higher grounds.
So, grab that hot water bottle and blanket and stay on the couch all day if you can.
