IRISH COUPLES SHELL out an average of €24,000 on their wedding and honeymoon, a new survey says.
Over 2,400 couples were surveyed by Mrs2Be.ie for the survey, which found that couples spent €19,635 on their big day and a further €4,000 on the honeymoon.
In terms of what money goes where, people are spending more on videographers, DJs, hair and makeup and cakes and less on venues, dresses and jewellery.
The survey found that most people are having between 101 and 150 at their wedding, with the cost of a meal coming in between €41 and €60. The majority of couples are engaged for less than 18 months and one in four have lived together for more than five years.
Almost 25% did not get married in a church and most have the speeches before the meal.
