Courgettes are a great crop and easy to grow in open ground. Just two plants each year keep us going for months on end from June onwards, or plant them in a poly tunnel for an earlier crop.

My local shop had highland strawberries with a giraffe on them. Had to look closely before I saw they were eithiopean. I was amazed.

Grow your own pah won’t help for veg this afternoon will it. Plenty of cheap courgettes in the local aldi today and lettuce. Anyway my courgettes always manage to rot before they get to any size.

This stuff will only grow if you have a polytunnel or greenhouse. The “summer” in this country is not long enough or hot enough to grow these vegetables. You may just about get away with it if you live in the far south of the country, but nowhere else. The plants will never mature enough to produce a crop and will rot in the ground.

Not true. I’ve done it successfully in North Leitrim with no polytunnel or greenhouse. Very tasty too.

I’ve seen several articles ballyragging people over their obsession with out of season veg and I think it needs to stop. I wouldn’t be able to last the entire winter and spring just eating turnip and kale. So what if people want fresh tomatoes and salad? It’s not our fault we don’t have the climate to grow everything all year. Sitting up on your high horse pontificating is only going to put people off growing their own, how about more encouragement and less judging. Also should this not be marked as an advertisement if your promoting the seeds you sell on your website?

Spurred a sale of seeds??? I’m a gardener and buy my seeds in February anyway! Ridiculous to claim other gardeners are doing the same because of the current shortage. What next? Umbrella sales go up coming into the winter?!

I think the indigo rose tomato is a good one for cooking with, Gardem peace is a nice one but prone to blights but st pierre and Eva Purple Ball Heirloom Tomato, saying nothing about Bloody Butcher? But Cristal’ F1 Hybrid, Ferline’ F1 Hybrid and Orkado’ F1 Hybrid are good as well.
