A LOT WAS said this week – some of it was even memorable. Here’s our round-up of the last seven days in quotes.
It looked like a battlefield. All these bodies and their families. They spent hours on the ground holding the cold hands of bodies dismembered by the truck. You can’t even speak to them or comfort them.
- Tarubi Wahid Mosta, a witness to the aftermath to the Nice attack on Thursday night which left 84 people dead and more than 200 injured.
She’s one of the most positive people you’d ever meet. She wants to be back there because of all the people they’re responsible for and in case things get worse.
- Irish nun Sister Ita Moynihan on her colleague Sister Orla Treacy, who is principal of a school in South Sudan and who is returning to the 700 schoolgirls in her care despite the heavy violence in the region.
I’d probably blame his PR team for talking shite every few weeks. He’s had three different excuses already. It has to be his PR team making this up. It couldn’t be him. He couldn’t be that stupid to have three different excuses.
- Olympic contender Paddy Barnes on Rory McIlroy’s reasons for not going to the Olympic Games in Rio.

- Nobel prize winner Paul Krugman was unimpressed with Ireland’s announcement of 26% (!) growth this week, saying it “doesn’t make sense”.

- Taoiseach Enda Kenny insisting this week that he has no intention of stepping down – despite some calls from Fine Gael backbenchers – because he has a mandate from the electorate.

I can understand the fear. I cannot get my head around the stigma part. Twenty years ago I could understand it, but now?
