Wolfe Tones end retirement ‘due to demand’ as Kneecap confirmed as first All Together Now headliner

The Wolfe Tones said ‘fans have written, stopped us along the way in streets and pubs and everywhere, reached out from every corner of Ireland and beyond’.

LAST UPDATE | 1 hr ago

FIVE MONTHS AFTER their “farewell” tour, the Wolfe Tones have announced two upcoming gigs in Dublin’s 3Arena “due to phenomenal demand”.

In July, the Wolfe Tones performed what was described as their “Final Farewell” shows in Limerick’s Thomond Park Stadium.

But in an announcement today, the Wolfe Tones’s Brian Warfield remarked that “the calls for us to return were constant”.

“Fans have written, stopped us along the way in streets and pubs and everywhere, reached out from every corner of Ireland and beyond,” said Warfield.

“Their messages showed us how deeply the Wolfe Tones meant to them and a strong bond remains between us and them after all those years.”

He added that “stepping back from performances in recent times” gave the band a “rare chance to pause”.

“It reminded us how much we enjoyed what we were doing, how much we resonated with our audiences, how much our audiences enjoyed the Wolfe Tones, the great atmosphere in the concerts.”

He said the Wolfe Tones are “proud to sing about the history, culture, character and songs of our country and we still have a fire to do it”.

The Wolfe Tones will play the 3 Arena on Friday 3 July and Saturday 4 July.

An MCD presale will take place at 9am tomorrow, while tickets will go on general sale at 9am on Friday.

Warfield thanked concert goers for their support over the years and added: “We look forward to sharing those magic moments once again, as we sing the songs, stories and history of our land. Let the people sing.”

Elsewhere, Irish language rap group Kneecap has been confirmed as the first headline act for the All Together Now festival in Co Waterford.

The festival will take place over the Bank Holiday weekend from 30 July to 2 August at Curraghmore Estate.

The full lineup is set to be release early next year.

The tickets are released in three phases, and the first two have already sold out.

Phase three tickets will go on sale this Friday at 9am.
