Woman (40) in court over fatal stabbing on New Year's Day

Wayne McQuillan (30) died after being stabbed in the early hours of the morning on New Year’s Day in Drogheda.

A WOMAN IS due to appear in court in Dublin this afternoon charged in relation to the murder of a man in Louth on New Year’s Day.

Wayne McQuillan, 30, was fatally stabbed in the early hours of the morning in Rathmullen Park in Drogheda on 1 January. He was brought to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

The case was upgraded to a murder investigation following the results of a post mortem carried out at the hospital yesterday.

The 40-year-old woman was arrested shortly after the stabbing. She will appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice in Dublin at 4.30pm this afternoon.
