Woman dies in Cork road crash as Gardaí urge motorists to reduce speed

The woman’s car collided with a truck at around 7.30am this morning as Gardaí have urged motorists to reduce their speed following a weather warning.

A YOUNG WOMAN has died after a road crash on the Cork to Mallow road this morning.

The woman in her 20s was driving close to the N20 junction for Grenagh village when her car collided with a truck. She was taken to Cork University Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The road at the scene of the crash has been closed pending a technical examination by the Garda Forensic Collision investigation team.

It is not expected to reopen before noon today.

Gardaí have urged motorists to allow extra time for journeys, reduce speed and take precautions following a rain warning from Met Éireann this morning.
