Appeal for Irish fan missing in Poland since Saturday

James Nolan was last seen at around lunchtime in the city of Bydgoszcz.

AN APPEAL HAS been issued for an Irish fan in Poland who has been missing since last Saturday afternoon.

James Nolan, 21, has been following Ireland at the European Championships and was last seen in Bydgoszcz, about 130 kilometres north east of Poznan where Ireland are playing Italy tonight in their final game.

From Blessington in Co Wicklow, he was last seen around 1-1.30pm local time. James was wearing a white t-shirt with a picture of Chuck Norris, dark blue jeans and grey runners.

His family are said to be very anxious to hear from him.

Any one with any information as to his whereabouts is asked to contact the Irish Embassy in Poland on 00 48 692 495 692.

We came across a disorientated young Irish guy late Sunday night on the Warsaw to Berlin train that looks quite similar to photo above. We boarded the train in Poznan at 8.31pm berlin bound. Just before crossing the German border a the guy in question came into our carriage and asked what the next station was. He smelt quite bad, as if he’d slept rough. He also asked if the train was going to Berlin. He then sat down in the seat in front of me for about 3 minutes before getting up and moving to another carriage. My friend has rang the Irish embassy in Poland with this information.

  I truly hope your family is doing alright through all of this. I could only imagine the frustration at the lack of information when on such an international level. I know football doesn’t matter in comparison, but I am happy for your country that Ireland made a showing and that your cousin was able to have that experience. When he comes home, I’m sure he will have lots of fantastic stories to tell! Look forward to them.

I just rang Blessington Garda station and gave them the details. My friend has also contacted the Irish embassy in Poland. We can’t remember what he was wearing but he definitely had a bag. I would imagine CCTV footage on the train or at train stations will determine if its James or not.

My brother & his friends were travelling with James & are doing everything possible to locate him. The Polish police have been great & they are going through cctv with the lads to see if they can find out what happened him. Thank you to everyone has reposted the appeal, hopefully someone in Poland will have some information to help find him.

Don’t know the young lad but I saw the article here and posted it on Twitter in the hope that someone could help. I forwarded it to a couple of people and now it has been retweeted hundreds of times. That’s right, here in Poland we are also really concerned about James and lots of people has already shared the message about him on facebook, twitter and many websites. I hope it helps to get information about his whereabouts. We’re awaiting good news about him being found safe and well.

  (shortly quoting) Polish police reports, that The Found Man was dressed in the t-shirt as described before, that the policemen found with Him the documents, the phone and the wallet with the money. So that’s why they suppose, that it was the unfortunate accident, apart they didn’t note any outer signs of the injuries, but they still didn’t definitely confirm that this is James.
