Armed robbery at Cork filling station, three people arrested but a fourth escaped

THREE PEOPLE HAVE been arrested after an armed robbery at a petrol station in Cork but another man escaped on foot.

Two masked men armed with knives held up staff at the service station on Leitrim Street at around 8:20 tonight and stole a quantity of cash.

The men left the scene in a car. It was driven by another man and had a female passenger.

Gardaí stopped the car and arrested three people, a woman and two men ranging in ages from late 20s to mid 40s.

A fourth person, a man, escaped on foot.

Gardaí recovered knives, balaclavas and cash in the car.

Two men and a woman are now in custody at Mayfield and Gurranabraher Garda Stations.

The scene at the filling station is being preserved for a technical examination and the car has been seized for examination.
