Newborn baby boy found dead at house in Cork city

The baby boy’s mother is receiving medical attention.

THE BODY OF a newborn baby boy has been found at a house in Cork city. His mother is currently receiving medical attention.

Medical staff attending an emergency call at the house in Deerpark at around 4.30pm this evening discovered the boy’s body.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, which has since been preserved for a technical examination.

The Deputy State Pathologist Dr Margot Bolster attended the scene and a post-mortem examination will be held at Cork University Hospital tomorrow, the results of which will determine the course of the investigation.

Gardai at Anglesea Street, Cork are investigating.
