Gardaí make an arrest in connection with murder of man in his 60s

GARDAÍ IN DUBLIN have arrested a man as part of a murder investigation following the discovery of a man’s body in a remote, wooded area near Tallaght.

The 41-year-old is being detained at Tallaght Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act. Investigations are ongoing.

The body of the man, aged in his 60s, was discovered next to a forest track at Ballinascorney Hill yesterday, 30 September.

He had been first reported missing the previous day.

A post mortem on the man’s body revealed he had been seriously assaulted to the back of his head.

A witness appeal will take place close to the scene at 3pm today.

Gardaí have appealed for anyone who may have been in the area of Ballinascorney Hill between 6.30am on the 29 September and 4am on 30 September to contact them at Tallaght Garda Station on 01 6666000 or on the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666111.
