Man arrested after fatal shooting in Ballyfermot, Dublin

The victim, named as John Wilson, was shot a number of times in a house on Cloverhill Road.

A MAN IN his 30s has been arrested by Gardaí investigating a fatal shooting in Ballyfermot, Dublin, yesterday afternoon.

The 35-year-old victim, named as John Wilson, was shot a number of times in a house on Cloverhill Road just before 3pm yesterday. He was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.

Wilson had collected a child from school before the shooting but Gardaí have said the child had been left at another location and was not with him when he was shot.

The shooting is the third to be described as a gangland killing this week. Wilson had previous convictions for drug and firearms offences.

Gardaí said today detectives believe at least two men wearing dark clothes and balaclavas were involved in the incident and may have escaped in a brown Volkswagon Passat with the registration 08-D-57734 which was stolen in Celbridge last week.

They are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to contact them at Ballyfermot Garda Station on 01-666-7200.
