PUT THE BARBECUE away – the weather this June bank holiday is going to be horrible.
Met Éireann is forecasting wind, rain and even frost for the long weekend.
While the weather all week will be cloudy with light rain and temperatures peaking at 14 degrees, Monday will become “rather wet and windy”.
The national forecaster says that while rain will clear on Friday, it will not last too long and will be cold enough for grass frost.
Saturday will be dry and bright for the most part during daylight hours but cloud will increase from the west going into the evening, before a band of rain spreads eastwards to all areas during the evening and early night.
The rain will clear overnight leaving the early part of Sunday dry and bright but rather cool for the first day of June. Then, during the second half of Sunday, it is likely to become cloudier, with outbreaks of rain developing in the west later.
Overnight into bank holiday Monday there are signs that it will become rather windy and wet, with the likelihood of a spell of heavy rain in most areas. During Monday, the rain will clear to showers but it will stay quite windy, with temperatures much lower than normal everywhere.
The good news is that temperatures will increase next week. The bad news is that it will still be raining.
