Two searches, 500 cannabis plants and three arrests in Co Clare

Both searches were carried out in Kilkee.

ALMOST €450,000 WORTH of cannabis plants were seized by gardaí after the discovery of two growing operations in Kilkee, Co Clare today.

Three people are being held in custody after today’s searches by gardaí targeting the sale and supply of controlled drugs.

The first search was carried out at a house in Lislanahan where about 200 cannabis plants with an estimated street value of €160,000 were discovered. Two people, a man and a woman both aged 23, were arrested at the scene and are being held in Kilrush Garda Station.

A second operation was then carried out by gardaí in the Tullaroe area of Kilkee where about 300 cannabis plants with an estimated street value of €280,000  were seized at a property. A male in his 50s was arrested and is currently being detained at Ennis Garda station.

Analysis of the drugs obtained is to be carried out by gardaí.

Only last week hundreds of cannabis plants valued at close to €500,000 was found by gardaí at another property in nearby Carrigaholt, Co Clare.
