Three men charged after €290k cannabis haul in Laois

The men are aged from their mid-20s to mid-50s.

THREE MEN HAVE been arrested after cannabis with an estimated street value of €290,000 was seized in Laois.

Gardaí from the Portlaoise district carried out a planned search of a house on Main Street, Ballyroan, Laois at about 10pm on Wednesday.

During the course of the search, cannabis herb with an estimated street value of up to €50,000 and cannabis plants with an estimated street value of up to €240,000, pending analysis, were seized.

Three men, aged from their mid-20s to mid-50s, were arrested at the scene and detained at at Portlaoise garda station under section two of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act.

All three men were charged and brought before Dublin District Court this morning. They were remanded in custody to appear before Cloverhill Court next Thursday, 7 July.

The search was part of an ongoing intelligence-led operation targeting the sale and supply of controlled drugs in the Laois/Offaly area.
