The men were jumping from a platform 27 metres high. Gulp.

SOME OF THE world’s best cliff divers travelled to Blue Lagoon in Pembrokeshire, South Wales today for the first round of the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series.

After the first batch of scores, Colombian Orlando Duque and the UK’s Blake Aldridge are tied at 100.8 points each. The judges awarded both their divers 9.5s.

The competition continues tomorrow with competitors going up against each other in head-to-head (not literally) rounds. About 1,000 spectators turned out today to see the 13 men tumble elegantly from the 27 metre platform.
