Metalman, Trouble brewing, O’Haras, Eight degrees. All great small irish breweries that deserve our support, I’d love to see them replacing the usual rubbish in irish bars.

We have friendly pubs alright, just a shame we don’t have a good selection of home brews or micro breweries. For a real place for the beer connoisseur it’s hard to beat Belgium which isnt for your average Irish pisshead but instead a place for folk who actually go looking for good beer. The porter house is pretty good though, we need more home industries like that

I’m in Dresden at the moment, and that’s pretty good, good beer, good food, reasonable prices, sunshine. What more can a body ask for.

We have some great small breweries and pubs in Ireland. I love the Oslo microbrewery in Galway, Against the Grain in Dublin, the Porterhouse. It’s good to have a few bars where you can get and appreciate decent beers, served by knowledgable and helpful staff. I drink very little nowadays but when I do, I’d rather have quality beers, especially when they are practically the same price as the more common, less tasty beers! Mmm beer :)

I’m in Burlington Vermont USA. Home to the first brew pub in the states. Opened in the year I got here- 1988.
I’m not a drinker- one or two is enough for me but I do miss Dublin pubs. I also enjoy the pubs down the country. Nothing like a Guinness and a ham sandwich for lunch.

I used to work in a beer house in the Clare/tipp border we had at one point 114 different beers, ciders and a weekly guest cask ale, we had hoegarden on tap along with budvar, newtons apple beer ( awesome ) and Galway hooker all on tap bottles of british beers were keep at room tempeture, unfortunately the pub had to close due to a couple of reasons but one of them was because it was ahead of its time really also the areas population was too small, il never forget the beer tastings we would fly to England for every few months to see what was new.
My personal favourite beers were newtons apple beer and franziskaner, I also loved aspall cyder and I see tesco now stock it in several flavours and they also supply the aspall cyder vinegar

Yes it is if you like drinking the same gas beers in every pub. Porterhouse is an exception but still gas driven.

The ‘Hero of Waterloo’, Sydney. 7 James Squires beers ranging from porter to light ale. Heaven!

Porterhouse messrs maguires any decent obriens off licence all have good selection of beers and ales nYe can’t beat Yorkshire for ales though brains from Cardiff is excellent

Galway, for such a small city, has a great selection of pubs with many beers from around the world on tap. The Salthouse, Bierhaus, Oslo, Massimo are amongst the many great bars in the city. Neacthains also do a decent selection including their own ales.

I like the Bull & Castle up by Christchurch they’ve a great selection of imported beers and Irish micro brewery stuff too. You can’t beat a stein of good German pilsner!!!

I’m not from Dublin but I live here and have to say, there is something very special about the Dublin pub. I know there’s plenty of diddly-eye crap here but that’s definitely true of the rest of the country. It’d be hard to beat a Guinness in the Stags Head. If you want something different Mulligans in Stonybatter is by far the best bar of its kind in Dublin. It’s like Against the Grain/ black sheep but better and without the hipsters.
