1. #MURDER: The mother of Alexander Pacteau has told the Irish Independent that an apology to Karen Buckley’s family ‘wouldn’t suffice’, saying that to describe the incident as traumatic would be an understatement. Noreen Dow said they are “heartbroken” for the Buckleys.

2. #SPLISH SPLASH: Registration for the water conservation grant is due to be begin shortly, RTÉ News reports, with letters being sent to homeowners from tomorrow.

3. #PROPERTY: Students looking for college accommodation are in for a shock as prices continue to rise in almost all of Ireland’s major cities, a new Daft.ie report reveals. The going rate for single beds in some areas has jumped nearly one quarter in the past 12 months.

4. #BANGKOK: The death toll from a bomb blast in the Thai capital yesterday has risen to 20 with 123 wounded. An investigation into the explosion is focusing on a man seen on CCTV.

5. #UNITED STATES: The Irish Daily Mail details a police report which reveals that Jason Corbett’s father-in-law allegedly ‘struck him with a baseball bat’. The Irishman died earlier this month in the United States.

6. #TRIGANA AIR: A plane that crashed in eastern Indonesia on Sunday has been found “completely destroyed“, with bodies of all 54 people onboard found. The plane’s black boxes were also recovered.

7. KNOCK IT DOWN: Residents in a housing estate in Kildare have expressed outrage at plans to demolish 44 homes and construct 23 new houses in their place, allegedly due to the level of anti-social behaviour in the area.

8. #INTO THE WILD: US actor Emile Hirsch has been sentenced to 15 days in jail after pleading guilty to assaulting film executive Daniele Bernfield at the Sundance Film Festival in January.

9. #SAY CHEESE: The Irish Daily Star reports that Fine Gael TD Alan Shatter has been criticised for submitting an expenses claim worth €12 for passport photos during his time as Minister for Defence.
