THEJOURNAL.IE and our sister/brother sports site TheScore.ie won a total of three awards at two web awards ceremonies last night.
TheJournal.ie won Best Mobile App at the eircom Spiders awards in Dublin’s Convention Centre and Best Web-Only Publication at the Irish Web Awards just across the river at the Mansion House. TheScore.ie was announced Ireland’s Best Sports Site at the Irish Web Awards.
We were, naturally, chuffed:

There were reports of some serious celebrations emanating from both sides of the Liffey with MC Des Bishop providing the LOLs at the Spiders. He also told us that he uses TheJournal.ie app all of the time which had us doing this. Meanwhile, this happened at the Web Awards.
Other winners at the eircom Spider awards included CoderDojo founder and all-round inspiration, 20-year-old James Whelton, who won the Internet Hero award. He had previously won a junior Spider award and his not-for-profit computer coding clubs for children are now establishing branches as far afield as China.

Congratulations on the awards, they’re well deserved.
Dont worry Cpm, your not alone, there was a few comments awhile back the Android app was seriously buggy for about 6 months. The latest update has improved it greatly (for me). It crashes now much much less. Rather than stalling everytime you lunched it.
Try the newer version might do the job.

Susan, congrats to the Journal – an award is merited. Just one point – I’ve noticed a very large number of comments that seem to post twice over the last number of days. Are ye aware of this. Otherwise, keep up the good work.
