Campaigns focus on education, same-sex marriage, political reform
The parties continue to canvass around the country today, as the Workers Party launch their election manifesto and Labour launches its policy on sport.
FINE GAEL IS DUE TO PUBLISH its plans to hold a referendum on constitutional change within a year of the new government taking office.
The party’s plan includes reducing the number of TDs, abolishing the Seanad and reducing the president’s term by two years to five years.
Fine Gael is also proposing providing the Oireachtas with the power to cut judges’ pay.
Meanwhile, the Green Party plans to mark Valentine’s Day this afternoon and will also be outlining its policy in support of gay marriage.
Sinn Féin will launch its education policy later this morning at the Department of Education in Dublin, and Labour will publish its sports policy.
The Workers’ Party will publish its election manifesto today.
