Sesame seeds recalled over fears they may contain moth larvae

The Food Standards Authority of Ireland (FSAI) issued the warning today.

A FOOD FIRM has recalled a batch of sesame seeds they fear may contain moth larvae.

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) said Pallas Foods issued a food alert for the Salamander Gourmet Food Co Sesame Seeds;,product code: PU300; pack size; one kilogram.

The FSAI said the product originated in India.

The Indian larvae can infest a large number of foodstuffs including vegetables, cereals, rice, flours and spices.

The food they infest will often seem to be webbed together, according to international pest control bodies.
