Garda motorcyclist seriously injured after coming off motorbike

There were no other vehicles involved.

GARDAÍ ARE INVESTIGATING after a Garda motorcyclist was seriously injured in a road accident.

The accident happened late last night when the garda came off his motorbike and struck the central divider on the N20 near Lissavoura, Mallow, Co Cork.

He sustained serious leg injuries and was transferred to Cork University Hospital.

There were no other vehicles involved.

The road was closed to facilitate Garda forensic investigators and local diversions are in place.

An investigation is ongoing.
