TWENTY-ONE PEOPLE were successfully rescued off the Co Cork coast on Monday evening in an operation involving the RNLI Baltimore lifeboat, the Coast Guard and a local boat.
Sixteen crew members of the Rambler 100, which was among the leaders of the Rolex Fastnet yacht race at the time of the accident, were brought ashore in the lifeboat and the other five were taken on a local diving boat.
Those five had entered the water as the ship capsized suddenly on Monday evening, but managed to stay together in a group throughout the more than two hours it took to rescue them.
