AN IRISH SOCCER fan has been jailed for an incident at the Gare du Nord train station in Paris during Euro 2016.
The Department of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that they are aware of the case, and are providing consular assistance through the Irish Embassy in Paris and consular division in Dublin.
According to reports by the Irish Independent, the incident happened two days after Ireland drew with Sweden in their opening Euro 2016 match; he was sentenced two days later.
The details of the incident and the whereabouts of where he’s being detained are unknown.
He is believed to be the only Irish fan to be convicted at this year’s European Championships.
