Search for man seen falling into river in Kilkenny

The man was seen entering the water at Green’s Bridge by two witnesses.

GARDAÍ, THE IRISH Coast Guard and a team from the Civil Defence have all been involved in a search for a man seen entering the water in Kilkenny City shortly after 7pm last night.

The man was seen entering the River Nore at Green’s Bridge by two witnesses.

A Civil Defence vessel carried out a search of the river yesterday evening, and the Coast Guard Rescue 117 helicopter was sent to do a sweep of the scene.

The search is expected to resume this morning. A spokesperson for the Coast Guard said that as yet, the agency had not received any further calls for back-up today.
