Woman (37) in critical condition after serious assault in Limerick

A 28-year-old man has been arrested.

GARDAÍ IN LIMERICK city are investigating a serious assault on a woman overnight.

Gardaí received a report of a disturbance at a property at Hassett’s Villas, Thomondgate, at about 12.40am.

When they entered the property they found a woman (37) with serious injuries to her body, possibly stab wounds.

An ambulance was called and the woman was taken to University Hospital Limerick. Her condition is described as critical but stable.

A man (28) was arrested and is being detained at Henry St Garda station under section four of the Criminal Justice Act.

The scene has been preserved for a technical examination.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to contact Mayorstone Garda station on 061 456 980, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any garda station.
