Madonna hits Dublin: The 5 looniest stories about her backstage antics

DNA scrubbing, Irish weather, roses with stems the wrong length – it’s a minefield out there for the Queen of Pop.

MADONNA PLAYS THE Aviva Stadium in Dublin tonight – which, of course, is the cue for a welter of stories about her diva-dom.

But fear not – we’ve dug through them so you don’t have to. So without further ado, here are the looniest stories about the Queen of Pop’s appearance tonight, and the rest of the tour:

5. Madonna rejects roses of five or seven inches

One of the earliest reports to emerge from the MDNA tour was this gem from In Touch Weekly, which says Madonna demands not only 20 international phone lines for her dressing room, and a “special fabric” draped around the place, but also that it should be filled with white and light-pink roses “that have stems trimmed to precisely six inches”.

4. Madonna would be an excellent bank robber

The Queen of Pop reportedly has a “sterilisation team” to make sure all her DNA is scrubbed from the dressing room after she uses it. Portuguese promoter Álvaro Ramos told the Daily Mirror: “We can only enter after her sterilisation team has left the room. There will not be any of Madonna’s DNA, any hair, or anything.”

3. Madonna has banned Irish produce

According to the Irish Daily Mirror, the singer’s “several” personal chefs have been firmly warned not to use any Irish meat, eggs or milk when preparing her meals. They must consist only of ingredients she knows and “not any new Irish produce”, the paper adds, quoting a source as saying: “Madonna has things that she likes and won’t be changing them for anybody”.

2. Madonna is being sued by a French politician because of this tour

This one is actually, definitely true.

1. Madonna is terrified of Irish weather

The Irish Sun reports that Her Madge “has been requesting regular weather reports” ahead of the gig, as she’s terrified of storms. Madonna is “said to suffer from brontophobia – meaning she is scared of thunder and lightning”, the paper reports, adding that organisers have “reassured” her the forecast is dry.

Perhaps she has a point. (Photo: UggBoy♥UggGirl via Flickr)
