A MAN has died after being shot in an early morning incident in Co Laois.
The incident occurred at the Kilnacourt Woods housing estate in Portarlington at about 8:30am this morning.
The man, in his 20s, sustained serious injuries in the shooting and was taken to Tullamore General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The scene has been preserved pending examination by the Garda Technical Bureau.
The Office of the State Pathologist has also been notified.
