ONE MAN NOT waiting around for any announcements to be made is Kerry-based TD Michael Healy-Rae.
In advance of the general election, he has released a music video encouraging the people of Kerry to vote for him.
The song has been written and performed by local band Truly Diverse and outlines the potential benefits of returning Healy-Rae to the Dáil.
Some pieces of considered advice delivered in the song are:
Make your vote and pray, that he goes all the way. He’s flat to the mat with his black cap and there’s no time for tae.
Vote him one, or vote him two, vote him anyway. Make the difference, vote him in, it’s Michael Healy-Rae.
The video for the song also features a montage of Healy-Rae, including images of him pictured with a Charlie Chaplin impersonator, giving out an RNLI award, and holding a rifle.
This isn’t the first time that the candidate has taken unconventional means to get his name out there. Last September these conspicuous looking truck-trailers were spotted on the outskirts of Kilgarvan.
The song – entitled ‘Make the Diff’ – appears to take its structure and music from Marty Mone’s country cult classic ‘Hit the Diff’.
