Michaela McAreavey suspects in court today

Five men charged in connection with the murder of Michaela McAreavey will appear in court in Mauritius today.

FIVE MEN CHARGED in connection with the death of Michaela McAreavey earlier this month will appear in court in Mauritius later today.

A spokesperson for the Mauritian police force told TheJournal.ie that investigators were seeking an extension to remand the men in custody for a further week.

He said that it was too early to say when the investigation would be complete, and insisted that reports indicating a fifth man was likely to have all charges against him dropped were purely “speculative” at this point.

Investigating officers are currently awaiting the results of DNA tests, he added.
