FIVE MEN CHARGED in connection with the death of Michaela McAreavey earlier this month will appear in court in Mauritius later today.
A spokesperson for the Mauritian police force told TheJournal.ie that investigators were seeking an extension to remand the men in custody for a further week.
He said that it was too early to say when the investigation would be complete, and insisted that reports indicating a fifth man was likely to have all charges against him dropped were purely “speculative” at this point.
Investigating officers are currently awaiting the results of DNA tests, he added.
