Man arrested over murder of Kevin McGuigan

The 53-year-old was gunned down in the Catholic Short Strand area of Belfast.

POLICE IN NORTHERN Ireland have arrested a man in relation to the murder of ex-IRA prisoner Kevin McGuigan.

Detectives investigating the case arrested a 47-year-old man in west Belfast this evening.

McGuigan was shot dead in front of his wife in east Belfast on 12 August.

The man has been taken to Musgrave Serious Crime Suite for questioning.

Following the arrest of republican Bobby Story last month, Sinn Féin leader Gerry Adams said no member of Sinn Féin was involved in McGuigan’s death and he doesn’t believe the IRA played a role either.
