Thought of how your kids will be getting to the One Direction gigs? Here's the crowd-control arrangements...

…or you may well be heading along yourself, we’re not judging. Either way, there’ll be a massive garda operation in place.

GARDAÍ ARE REMINDING parents and concert-goers there’ll be strict crowd control procedures in place for next month’s One Direction gigs at Croke Park.

The popular boy band are due to play three sold-out shows at GAA headquarters on the 23rd, 24th and 25th of next month — the first of eight gigs taking place at the venue this summer, ahead of Garth Brooks’ comeback special in July.

Two parental pick-up points are being put in place to allow parents and guardians to meet up with their children. They’re at the Mater Dei Institute, on the Clonliffe Road, and at Mountjoy Square East. However, access will be on foot only.

Mountjoy Gardaí are urging parents to take note there’s be no meeting point outside the stadium on Jones Road, post-concert.

There’ll be restricted access in the area, with access limited to ticket-holders, local residents and businesses. Garda cordons will be in place for at least an hour before gate times for each of the gigs.

A traffic and crowd management plan also kicks in at the end of each concert, and will be in place for at least half an hour.

Concert-goers are also being advised to purchase tickets only from accredited sources and to beware of touts selling juvenile tickets as adult ones.

Garda Superintendent Kevin Gralton appeared on RTÉ’s Crime Call last night to give advice on the gigs. Parents bringing children to the concerts are being urged to use public transport where available and to make themselves aware of the pedestrian collection points.

A list of car-parking offers in the area is also available on the Garda website.

There was a major crush incident at a One Direction gig in Peru at the weekend — some 47 young people had to be treated for asphyxia following the incident at the 40,000 capacity Estadio Nacional stadium in Lima.

There was a rush when the concert doors opened, as youngsters scrambled to get to the front, according to the local chief of police.

@Terry McClatchey: that’s the thing, none of the150 or so islanders drink beer, a survey in 2915 showed they preferred larger, something to do with the fact most of them are related to the o Driscolls who came from nearby sherkin island, well that and magic mushrooms which will be in abundance late October, sweet days on beer island ahead
