Over 5,000 phone customers without landline services after heavy winds

The stormy weather means customers in all four corners of the country are without landline services, Eircom says.

AROUND 5,000 LANDLINES are out of order in Ireland today as a result of the stormy weather of the last few weeks.

Eircom says the worst-affected areas are the north-west, south-west, north-east and south-east, though fault levels were high nationwide.

While it said repair crews were working hard to repair all reported faults, the volume of new faults being reported – which included over 4,000 new reports between Monday and Tuesday – meant a significant number were outstanding.

Crews are set to work throughout the weekend to restore service to disrupted customers.

“We would like to assure all of our customers we are making every possible effort to restore service as soon as possible and we will provide further updates in the coming days,” Eircom said.

Customers wishing to report a fault can do so through the Eircom website or by calling its free helpline at 1901.
