Two viable pipe bombs found in Belfast

Residents had to leave their homes during a security alert at Lenadoon Avenue, where the bombs were found.

TWO VIABLE PIPE bombs were found in west Belfast today.

The PSNI said that the discovery came during a security alert at Lenadoon Avenue in west Belfast, which has now ended.

Army Technical Officers have made safe two viable pipe bomb type devices which were discovered by police following a pre-planned search in the area.

The devices have been taken for forensic examination. All roads have been re-opened and residents allowed back to their homes.
