Police officer who sent extreme porn to colleagues fined £6,000

The 37-year-old avoided jail time for sending the videos and photographs, which included scenes showing defecation.

A LONDON POLICE officer who sent pornographic videos and photographs to colleagues while he was working at Downing Street has been fined £6,000 by a court.

PC James Addison, 37, sent the porn – including scenes showing defecation and unconventional sex acts –  to 15 other police officers using messaging service WhatsApp.

He had pleaded guilty to eleven counts of publishing an obscene article while he was working as a protection officer at Downing Street, the official residence of the British Prime Minister and Chancellor of the Exchequer.

A judge at the City of Westminster Magistrates Court  yesterday ordered that Addison should not serve jail time but that his phone should be forfeited and he should pay a £120 charge, as well as the fine.

He has been suspended from his work at the London Metropolitan Police and is due to face a misconduct hearing in the coming months.

Fourteen other police officers have also been the subject of either a criminal or misconduct investigation into the possession and distribution of obscene images via mobile phones during the course of the investigation into Addison.

A spokesperson for the London Metropolitan Police said the force “set the highest standards for our officers”.

“They know the law and that the sharing of obscene images is illegal,” said Deputy Assistant Commissioner Fiona Taylor.

“PC Addison has acknowledged what he did was wrong and pleaded guilty at the first opportunity”.

The images were uncovered as part of an investigation into Downing Street police over claims that a Tory MP had called one of them a ‘pleb’.
