Poll: Does Osama bin Laden's death make the world safer?

US president had claimed the al-Qaeda leader’s death made the world a safer place when announcing his death on Sunday night.

ON SUNDAY NIGHT, US President Barack Obama announced that al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, believed to have materminded the 9/11 attacks, had been killed by US forces.

Although Obama said that the “fight against terror goes on”, he said that the world had become a safer place with bin Laden’s death.

Some security analysts have warned, though, that there may be reprisals in response to bin Laden’s death, particularly in Iraq where al-Qaeda support gathered momentum following the US invasion.

But what do you think of Obama’s sentiments? Do you think the world is a safer place because of Osama bin Laden’s death?
