Poll: Have you ever bought an original artwork?

We’d like to know – regardless of price – if you have ever bought an original artwork.

HIGH-YIELDING ART sales have grabbed the headlines in recent months, with multi-million dollar deals including Edward Munch’s The Scream and Mark Rothko’s Orange, Red, Yellow.

However, amid rumours of an art bubble and changing trends, the late Louis le Brocquy’s tapestries sold for less than expected this month.

TheJournal.ie has taken a deeper look at what’s happening in the art world right now, examining how the trends in buying-and-selling art have followed the trajectory of the property market boom and bust.

However, as we all know, art is not just for billionaires; we mere mortals also buy and collect classic and contemporary art for a variety of reasons – decoration, investment, as symbols of status, or simply for the love of the piece.

So, we’d like to know (regardless of price): have you ever bought an original artwork?
