Minister James Reilly is seeking a ban – do you agree with him?

MINISTER FOR CHILDREN James Reilly is to bring proposals before Cabinet for legislation that would effectively ban parents from smacking their children.

The Irish Times reports the minister wants to remove the defence of ‘reasonable chastisement’ from legislation. This defence applies to both parents and childminders.
