Pat Kenny to return to Late Late following death of Tubridy’s father

The Late Late’s former host will step back into his old seat this week after Ryan Tubridy’s father Pat passed away.

PAT KENNY will make an unexpected return to the presenter’s chair of the Late Late Show this Friday evening, following the death of the father of regular host Ryan Tubridy.

Dr Pat Tubridy died peacefully at St Vincent’s Hospital this morning following a short illness. His funeral will take place in Blackrock on Friday morning.

Dave Fanning will fill in on Ryan Tubridy’s 2FM show for the rest of the week, while Kenny – who hosted the show permanently from 1999 to 2009 – will take the presenter’s chair on the Late Late Show this Friday.

Pat Tubridy is survived by his wife Adele, seven children and six grandchildren.

The Tubridy family has thanked the public for the support shown to them, and asked for privacy at this time.

In a statement RTÉ extended its sympathies to Ryan and the Tubridy family.
