Teenager denies murdering Dublin man
Eighteen-year-old accused of shooting Aidan O’Kane, 50, dead in Dublin city in December 2008 after an argument.
AN 18-YEAR-OLD MAN HAS gone on trial for the murder of Aidan O’Kane, 50, in Dublin in December 2008.
Conor Duffy of St Mary’s Road in East Wall, who was 16 at the time of O’Kane’s death, denies the charges.
O’Kane was shot dead in a laneway near East Wall Road after an altercation with teenagers who threw eggs at his home, RTÉ reports.
The court heard today that O’Kane and his son were taunted by youths as they cleaned the eggs from their home. Newstalk reports that the court heard Aidan O’Kane was carrying an extendable baton when he and his son later searched for the youths.
His son told the court that when he and his father went out to find those responsible for the egg incident, he passed Conor Duffy on the road. He said he believed Duffy and his father exchanged words before the teenager fired the fatal shot.
The case continues.
