WATCH: 'That's not the Kazakhstan national anthem, that's Ricky Martin'

Organisers of a skiing festival in the Kazakh region of Kostanay accidentally played ‘Livin’ la Vida Loca’ instead of the anthem.

MOST PEOPLE CAN BLAME the work of Sasha Baron Cohen if they don’t know the Kazakhstani national anthem, with the version in the Borat film bearing only a small resemblance to the real tune.

The people of Kazakhstan itself can’t rely on that excuse, though – and it’s even more embarrassing when the anthem is mistaken for a 1990s chart hit from Ricky Martin.

That’s what someone at the regional skiing festival in the Kazakh region of Kostanay managed, however – accidentally playing Martin’s 1999 number one when called upon to begin the national anthem.

Baron Cohen was unavailable for comment this morning.
