DUBLIN CITY COUNCIL has said that work has begun on a damaged pipe that has left thousands without water.
The City Council’s Water Division expect the works on the main on James Street to be completed later tonight. Full supplies are expected to be back by tomorrow afternoon.
Areas of Glasnevin, Drumcondra, Phibsborough, and Cabra are the worst hit, with several areas across the city centre, including Mountjoy Square and St James’s Gate also affected.
The council says that water consumption should be kept to a minimum during this afternoon and tonight.
“Dublin City Council will endeavour to minimise the disruption and apologises for the inconvenience caused. Please restrict water usage during the disruption period and visit http://www.taptips.ie for simple tips on how to conserve water without having an adverse impact on lifestyle.
“Customers experiencing severe water disruption should contact Dublin City Council Water Services Division on the emergency number 01-6796186 (outside office hours only).”
