GARDAÍ HAVE LAUNCHED a murder investigation into the death of woman after her body was discovered at an apartment in Waterford city.
Gardaí discovered 31-year-old Samantha Walsh after they were called to an apartment at Thomas Court, Thomas Street at about 3pm yesterday afternoon.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
A post-mortem was carried out this afternoon by Deputy State Pathologist Dr Curtis, and the result have been passed to the investigation team.
The Garda Technical Bureau were due to carry out an examination of the scene and the office of the State Pathologist and the local coroner have both been notified.
Speaking at Waterford Garda Station this evening, Superintendent Christopher Delaney appealed to any member of the public who may have any information in respect of this crime to contact them.
“…In particular any persons who were in the area of Thomas Street on Thursday night 27 April 2017 and into the early hours of Friday morning. [We're appealing to anyone] who witnessed anything and may have any information which may assist us.”
