Woman (62) arrested in attempted murder investigation

She is being questioned along with two other people – a man and woman in their 20s.

A 62-YEAR-OLD woman has been arrested in connection with the attempted murder of two PSNI officers in Belfast earlier this week.

The suspect has been taken to Antrim Serious Crime Suite where she is being questioned by detectives.

A 27-year-old woman and a 25-year-old man remain in custody.

The two officers involved in the attack escaped injury but were said to be “badly shaken” by the events. They had to dive for cover when two pipe bombs were thrown at them as they answered a 999 call in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Chief Inspector Andrew Freeburn, North Belfast Area Commander described it as a “blatant attempt to murder our police officers”.
