Woman in her 60s dies after jeep goes over ditch

The vehicle was not discovered for several hours.

GARDAÍ ARE INVESTIGATING a single-vehicle collision in which a woman died yesterday.

The incident occurred at Birchwood, Kilmoganny in Co Kilkenny yesterday morning.

A woman in her late 60s was fatally injured when the jeep she was driving went over a ditch. The vehicle was not discovered until about 8.30pm.

The woman’s body was removed to University Hospital Waterford where a post-mortem will take place.

The road is currently closed to facilitate an examination by garda forensic collision investigators, and local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who travelled on the road in question between 7am and 8.30pm yesterday and may have noticed anything unusual to contact them at Thomastown Garda Station on 056 775 4150, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any garda station.
